Wednesday 15th September sees the launch of the 3rd generation e-m@iler superphone – the Amstrad E3 email-enabled home videophone. The product follows on from the successful launch of the original e-m@iler in March 2000 and the e-m@ilerplus launched in February 2002.

The E3 videophone allows Britons to ‘look who’s talking’ by making video calls to other E3 phones. The most affordable, easiest and cost-effective way of staying in touch with loved ones at around £99 or £179 for a pair, the E3 videophone is set to take the home technology market by storm.

With full colour screen and built-in camera, the E3 allows users to take a picture and send it to a PC, mobile phone or another E3 while also improving web surfing and gameplay with the free game pad supplied.

With the E3, users no longer need a PC to make video calls, send email with pictures and sound or surf the net, it can all be done with the easy-to-use E3 videophone.

The E3 is easy to set up, and registration takes just a matter of minutes. There is no joining fee or subscription, and users that initiate the video connection simply pay for the video call.

Simon Sugar, Amstrad Commercial Director, said: “The evolution of the Amstrad E3 follows on from the success of the e-m@iler and the e-m@ilerplus. We developed the E3 because we realised that many people want to be able to keep in touch via an easy-to-use and cost-effective means of video calling. Prior to the E3, alternative options for video calling were cost-prohibitive to the majority of people. The product represents a real commitment from Amstrad not only to get Britain emailing, but also to get Britain video calling. The E3 is accessible, compact and easy to use, meaning that anyone can enjoy the benefits of being able to keep in touch from home. We believe that the new product offers consumers the only complete home communications system on the market.”
