Technology brands advertise with Amstrad's E3

Three of the UK's leading technology retailers - Carphone Warehouse, Dell and Orange have signed deals to put advertisements on Amstrad's latest super phone, the Amstrad E3.

Carphone Warehouse has just started a six-month campaign advertising its Talk Talk home phone offering, Orange is running a month long campaign around a special text bundle deal and Dell will be advertising its home PCs during March.

The brands have been impressed by the E3's fusion of interactive and direct response media. The email-enabled videophone - launched by Amstrad in 2004 - provides advertisers with a 'poster in the home', a unique and effective way to target consumers in their home environment. The E3's colour screen displays advertiser messages, which a customer can respond to - putting them through to the advertisers customer services.

As Richard Broadbent, Senior Marketing Manager at Orange, has said: 'The Amstrad E-mailer offered Orange a very simple proposition: it generates phone calls. As an innovative direct response advertiser, Orange quickly recognised the E-Mailer's appeal. Once a potential customer presses the direct response button, our number is rung hands free putting the caller through to one of our customer service representatives. And, as Amstrad offer a call tracking facility, we can rigorously analyse the effectiveness of our campaigns.'

Simon Sugar, Amstrad Commercial Director, said: "Our own research shows that the majority of our customers are used to technology and are always looking for the best technology deals. Our customers will be able to get some great deals with these well-known retailers. Each advertiser is exploring this more direct response way of advertising and we think they'll be impressed with the high response rates."

Other well-known brands who have advertised on the E3 include Sky, BT, AOL, Abbey, Halifax, and many more.
